Secretary-General of China-Central Asia Sun Weidong met with Chen Leiming

On September 2, 2025, Sun Weidong, Secretary-General of the China-Central Asia Mechanism, met with Chen Leiming, Executive President and Secretary-General of the China National Association of Metal Material Trade (CAMT), in Beijing. Present at the meeting were Wang Hongsen, Senior Advisor of CAMT; Zhang Yanju, Deputy Secretary-General of CAMT; and Li Jing, Assistant Secretary-General of CAMT.

Chen Leiming, Executive President of the China National Association of Metal Material Trade (CAMT), elaborated on the founding and development history of CAMT. He noted that with the in-depth advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) international cooperation, Chinese enterprises in the steel and metal products industry have actively "gone global," contributing to infrastructure construction and economic development in relevant countries. As the only national-level industry association in China’s metal material circulation sector, CAMT possesses efficient industry resource integration capabilities and is willing to participate in the implementation of the outcomes of the Second China-Central Asia Summit, so as to promote the construction of industrial and supply chains in related fields between China and Central Asian countries.

Sun Weidong, Secretary-General of the China-Central Asia Mechanism, spoke highly of the development achievements of CAMT since its establishment. He introduced the basic overview of the China-Central Asia Mechanism and the main responsibilities of its Secretariat, and stated that the Secretariat is willing to strengthen communication and collaboration with CAMT. Guided by regional and country-specific markets, the two sides will expand channels for exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Central Asian enterprises, build mutually beneficial cooperation platforms, deepen regional industrial cooperation, enable the transformation and upgrading of the industry, promote the alignment of technical standards, and implement the outcomes of the Second China-Central Asia Summit with high quality, so as to facilitate the in-depth development of BRI cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.

The two parties discussed specific issues concerning potential cooperation.
