Brazilian iron ore producer Vale said on Tuesday it expects to resume activities at its Laranjeiras dam as well at its Brucutu mining complex, following a court decision.
Vale said activities at its Brucutu complex remain suspended, following the Brumadinho disaster, which killed at least 206 people. A Minas Gerais state court allowed the miner to resume activities at its Laranjeiras dam, as well at its Brucutu complex.
Vale said it will require Minas Gerais environmental authority, Semad, to comply with the court decision, so it can resume activities.
The miner did not provide a timeline or estimate to resume operations at both the Laranjeiras dam and the Brucutu complex.
Separately, Vale said a court injunction seized about BRL 1 billion of the company’s assets. The asset seizure aims to eventually pay communities evacuated near the S?o Sebasti?o das águas Claras – Macacos area.
